Basik - Votive (Hand Series)

from $225.00

This work is part of Basik’s Hand Series, an ongoing body of figurative works centered on the symbolic and expressive power of hand gestures.

Emerging from Italy’s graffiti movement of the early 1990s, Basik (Lucio Bolognesi) has developed a practice that merges the visual economy of writing culture with references to Medieval and Renaissance art, modern abstraction, and contemporary avant-gardes. His hands function as icons rather than portraits — charged fragments that communicate belief, identity, labor, and human presence.

Rendered with a strong sensitivity to surface and material, the work reflects Basik’s continued interest in the relationship between gesture, image, and physical support. The resulting composition balances restraint and intensity, inviting sustained viewing rather than immediate consumption.

This Free Vandals edition presents the work as a large-scale archival print, honoring both its street origins and its place within contemporary visual culture.
